Thriving 30, Volume 20: My Ode to G&T

Who woulda thunk I'd write an ode to you,

My one true love, a little sweet but never blue

Refreshing and light, a little cold

Never neat, usually shaken, neither aged or old

Here are all the bars in the bay area that have great Gin and Tonics:

(in no particular order)

1. Iron Horse, San Francisco

Ok.. ok.. I know I've been talking all this shit, on how Oakland is the best, I love Oakland soo much. BLAH BLAH BLAH. But damn, this spot has some good stuff.

English Breakfast -- sounds like a tea. It is a tea. Earl Grey infused, served in a chilled tea-cup, with some earl grey tea leaves over rgw foam. So unique, so good. If you have a love for the G&T's I'd say you try this cocktail out.

2. Plum Bar, Oakland

Lavender + Meyer lemon. My 2 favorite flavors, add gin. I'm there. Guess what, this is in Oakland. This bar has been here for a bit, but I didn't come here until the afternoon I quit my most recent job. It was around 2pm, I told the sweetest bartender I want something with gin and lavender. She said I gotchu... my life changed from then on. It is a little on the sweeter side from the citrus... but just so light and fresh. I don't know if this drink will ever be on the menu, but if you see a woman there that is in her late 20's studying to be a doctor. She knows what's up.

3. Bar 355, Oakland

Housemade tonic? What? Yeah you heard right. That is their signature cocktail. Gin and Tonic with housemade tonic. This is your basic b*tch, G&T with a little kick. Hendricks Gin + Tonic that taste a little like the 'buch (that's short for Kombucha for ya). The bar itself looks a little speakeasy, has a mini stage for open mic (hold the microphone!) and in downtown Oakland. Might be all of my favorite things into one. Look for the bartender that has the longest beard. He is my homeboy... he just doesn't know it yet.

I will write more odes, I'll start off with three

I want this to be easy to read, easy to see

Bar posts are great, it's definitely a hit

Alcoholics, you and me. Don't throw a fit!
